Authors: Trinh Le Huy, Pham Duy Manh (2021) - A 45-year-old male presented with symptoms mimicking pericarditis, including rapidly worsening dyspnea
and retrosternal chest pain. On imaging workup, an abnormal mass of 50x53 mm in size was detected at the
left atrium, which partially obstructed blood flow through the mitral valve. PET/CT was done in searching for
the probable site of origin but revealed no abnormal uptake lesions. The tumorectomy and excision of the
posterior wall of the left atrium were then performed with curative intent. The postoperative histology of the
tumor was in favor of a spindle cell sarcoma, originating from the left atrium, grade 2, which was confirmed as
epithelioid angiosarcoma by immunohistochemistry. The patient denied adjuvant radiation, thus we treated him
with six cycles of Pacli...

Authors: Tran Thanh Tung, Trinh Vinh Quang (2021) - This study was performed to investigate the effects of An Tri Khang (ATK) hard capsule on scopolamine induced memory impairment in experimental animals. The effects on memory of oral administration ATK
were evaluated on scopolamine-induced memory impairment in experimental animals. The memory
improvement effects were conducted on 2 experimental models: the Morris water maze (MWM) and
the Multi-T maze (MTM). In the MWM model, ATK significantly reduced the time spent and pathlength
to platform, increased the percentage of time swimming in platform’s quadrant. Swiss mice performed the
MTM with shorter in both the time spent and the pathlength to the goal box (p < 0.01). Both doses of ATK
attenuated scopolamine-mediated impairment of memory. ATK has potential effects on memo...

Authors: Nguyen Hoai Bac, Nguyen Cao Thang (2021) - Congenital penile curvature (CPC) is a rare condition in men but has considerable impact on male
sexual activity as well as their mental health. Many techniques had been proposed to manage this condition,
however the corporal rotation technique had the advantage of preserving the penile length. Therefore, we
conducted a study on 16 men with CPC who were treated with corporal rotation surgery to evaluate the
outcome of this technique. The results showed that the mean degree of curvature was 51 ± 12.2 degree.
The majority of patients had a moderate penile curvature (< 60 degree) and ventral curvature (75%). After
the surgery, the residual curvature decreased significantly (from 51 ± 12.2 degree to 16.6 ± 6.34 degree with
p < 0.001). We observed no remarkable changes in a...

Authors: Duong Manh Chien, Hoang Tuan Anh; Nguyen Tran Quang Sang (2021) - Giant cell tumors (GCT) of the distal end of radius are relatively common tumors, representing
approximately 5% of all primary bone tumors. It is the third most common location for GCT
following distal femur and proximal tibia. In general, treatment includes thorough tumor excision,
reconstruction of the defect, and wrist joint rehabilitation

Authors: Trinh Le Huy, Tran Dinh Anh (2021) - Primary breast diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL) is a rare non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma with limited data.
We here report a case of primary breast diffuse large B-cell lymphoma mimicking breast cancer. A 52-year old woman had a painless mass in her right breast. Fine needle aspiration cytology and core biopsy were
performed which suggested malignant features but could not confirm the specific subtype. Excisional biopsy
then was conducted revealing non-Hodgkin lymphoma, which was subsequently confirmed with histopathology
and diagnosed as diffuse large B-cell lymphoma (DLBCL). A chest computed tomography scan revealed
a 3.5cm sized breast mass with skin thickening and modest lymphadenopathy in the ipsilateral axilla. The
patient received six courses of R-CHOP (cyclophospham...

Authors: Trinh Le Huy, Ngo Van Ty (2021) - Sphincter-preserving surgery for low rectal cancer improved the quality of life while maintaining the
oncologic outcomes. A retrospective, descriptive study was conducted with 45 patients who underwent
sphincter-preserving surgery for low rectal cancer at the National Cancer Hospital and Hanoi Medical
University Hospital between January 2016 and April 2020. The mean age was 55.6 years old. Male:
female ratio = 0.7:1. Nearly all patients presented with hematochezia (95.6%). 75.6% of the tumors are
located within 4-6 cm from the anal verge. The anastomotic leak rate was 4.4%. All patients had a normal
postoperative urinary function. The sexual dysfunction rate was low (15.8%) and reversible. None had
erectile or ejaculation dysfunction. 97.8% satisfied with sphincter fun...

Authors: Pham Minh Tuan, Doan Tuan Vu (2021) - Coronary heart disease in young patients always poses great challenges for every healthcare system with
differences in clinical manifestations, etiology, epidemiology, angiographic characteristics and prognosis. The
objective of this study was to describe a case of ST-elevation myocardial infarction complicated by cardiac arrest
in a young patient with familial dyslipidemia. A 30-year-old male visited our hospital with typical angina. During
the examination, he suffered a sudden loss of consciousness, the monitor showed ventricular fibrillation. After
successful resuscitation of cardiac arrest, electrocardiography showed apparent ST-elevation from V2 to V6 leads
consistent with the diagnosis of anterolateral infarction

Authors: Nguyen Thanh Binh, Le Thi Diem Trinh; Pham Duy Quang (2021) - Hazardous levels of alcohol use have caused many diseases, posing a great economic and social burden
to the community. Alcohol use in some provinces of Vietnam shows that alcohol consumers are getting younger
and younger. This study aimed to determine the proportion of alcohol consumption among students at Binh
Phuoc Ethnic Minority High School in 2020 and a number of factors leading to the alcohol consumption. The
result showed that the alcohol use proportion in the past 12 months was 62% and the risky drinkers rate was
11.2%. Some factors concerning the use of alcohol among students such as gender, age, grade level, behavior,
smoking, alcohol use family members, alcoholic friends, and friends influence were also revealed in the study

Authors: Pham Thi Van Anh, Nguyen Van Dam (2021) - The purpose of this research is to evaluate the acute and subchronic toxicities of DA DAI TRANG HVD
capsules through oral administration in experimental animals. The acute toxicity was determined by the method
of Litchfield Wilcoxon in Swiss mice. The subchronic toxicity was evaluated by the recommendation of WHO
and OECD in Wistar rats with oral doses of 1.44 g/kg/day (equal to recommended human dose) and 4.32 g/kg/
day (3 times as high as recommended human dose) in 4 consecutive weeks. As a result, DA DAI TRANG HVD
capsules at the highest dose used for mice (99.9 g materials/kg) did not express acute toxicity in mice. In term
of the subchonic toxicity test, DA DAI TRANG HVD had no deleterious effect on hematological parameters,
hepato-renal functions, macroscopic and ...

Authors: Le Thanh Xuan, Le Thi Nhat Ngoc (2021) - The present study aimed to investigate the sub-chronic toxicity of “Phong thap dan” (PTD) tablets
through oral administration in experimental animal. The sub-chronic toxicity was evaluated by the WHO
recommendation in Wistar rats at doses of 0.72 g/kg/day (equal to recommended human dose) and 2.16
g/kg/day (3 times as high as recommended human dose). In the sub-chronic experimental group, the PTD
was administered orally daily for 8 consecutive weeks. In the evaluation of sub-chronic toxicity, there were
no behavioral and physiological change or sign of toxicity. The result of the hematological and biological
parameters after administration of PTD tablets showed no change. The histopathology analysis of livers
and kidneys indicated that no significant difference was obs...
