Abstract

One tactful strategy in communication is hedging. There have been numerous studies that address hedging in academic discourse and conversation analysis. The result of this literature review of researches on the use of hedging devices in communication revealed that in Viet Nam, in-depth and contrastive studies on how hedges are used in communication in English and Vietnamese are tremendously few and that this filed of studies is really worth further investigation.
