  • TVS.004614_TT_(Advances in Applied Mathematics) Shijun Liao - Clean Numerical Simulation-CRC Press (2024).pdf.jpg
  • Sách/Book

  • Authors: Liao, Shijun (2023)

  • A new strategy to gain "clean" reliable numerical simulations of chaos and turbulence, namely the Clean Numerical Simulation (CNS), which can greatly reduce numerical noises to a tiny level much smaller than that of true solutions so numerical noises are negligible, and the corresponding numerical simulation is "clean" and thus reliable.

  • Sách/Book

  • Authors: Sydsæter, Knut (2021)

  • The subject matter that modern economics students are expected to master makes significant mathematical demands. This is true even of the less technical "applied" literature that students will be expected to read for courses in fields such as public finance, industrial organization, and labour economics, amongst several others. Indeed, the most relevant literature typically presumes familiarity with several important mathematical tools, especially calculus for functions of one and several variables, as well as a basic understanding of multivariable optimization problems with or without constraints. Linear algebra is also used to some extent in economic theory, and a great deal more in...

  • TVS.004649_TT_Peter Tannenbaum - Excursions in Modern Mathematics-Pearson (2022).pdf.jpg
  • Sách/Book

  • Authors: Tannenbaum, Peter (2022)

  • This text started many years ago as a set of lecture notes for a new, experimental "math appreciation" course (these types of courses are described, sometimes a bit derisively, as "math for poets"). Over time, the lecture notes grew into a text and the "poets" turned out to be social scientists, political scientists, economists, psychologists, environmentalists, and many other "ists." Over time, and with the input of many users, the contents have been expanded and improved, but the underlying philosophy of the text has remained the same since those handwritten lecture notes were handed out to my first group of students. Excursions in Modern Mathematics is a travelogue into that vast a...

  • Previous studies of the so-called frontier production function have not utilized an adequate characterization of the disturbance term for such a model. In this paper we provide an appropriate specification, by defining the disturbance term as the sum of symmetric normal and (negative) half-normal random variables. Various aspects of maximum-likelihood estimation for the coefficients of a production function with an additive disturbance term of this sort are then considered.

  • TVS.005074_TT_(Texts in Computer Science) Tomas Hrycej, Bernhard Bermeitinger, Matthias Cetto, Siegfried Handschuh - Mathematical Foundations of Data.pdf.jpg
  • Sách/Book

  • Authors: Hrycej, Tomas (2023)

  • This textbook aims to point out the most important principles of data analysis from the mathematical point of view. Specifically, it selected these questions for exploring: Which are the principles necessary to understand the implications of an application, and which are necessary to understand the conditions for the success of methods used? Theory is presented only to the degree necessary to apply it properly, striving for the balance between excessive complexity and oversimplification. Its primary focus is on principles crucial for application success

  • TVS.004615_TT_(Advances in Applied Mathematics) Svetlin G. Georgiev, Khaled Zennir - Multiplicative Partial Differential Equations-CRC Press (2024).pdf.jpg
  • Sách/Book

  • Authors: Georgiev, Svetlin (2023)

  • This book presents an introduction to the theory of multiplicative partial differential equations (MPDEs). It is suitable for all types of basic courses on MPDEs. The author's aim is to present a clear and well-organized treatment of the concept behind the development of mathematics and solution techniques. The text material of this book is presented in highly readable, mathematically solid format. Many practical problems are illustrated displaying a wide variety of solution techniques"--
