This study investigated the application of collocational knowledge in the process of Vietnamese – English translation intended for the third-year students of English Department, Thang Long University (TLU). The paper aims at analyzing the benefits of using correct natural word combinations for the purpose of effective translating study, the factual state as well as the difficulties faced by trainee translators when using such combinations, and their usual vocabulary acquisition method.
