dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the application of collocational knowledge in the process of Vietnamese – English translation intended for the third-year students of English Department, Thang Long University (TLU). The paper aims at analyzing the benefits of using correct natural word combinations for the purpose of effective translating study, the factual state as well as the difficulties faced by trainee translators when using such combinations, and their usual vocabulary acquisition method. To achieve these goals, a number of materials were collected and synthesized. From received results, the paper argues the most practical implications of collocational awareness for translation, point out all the hindrances, mistakes and inappropriate studying habit of the trainee translators, so that recommendations on how to acquire collocation stock, better the use of collocation in study and practice of translating skill were developedvi_VN
